Cops and their glasses
Social Bookmarks: del.icio.us Digg it Furl Google ma.gnolia reddit Simpy Squidoo YahooWe were asked the other day if we sold patrolman glasses online. We weren’t quite sure at first what to make of the request – but further probing revealed that the caller was going to a party dressed as a California cop, and wanted some spectacles with a mirror glasses finish to complete the outfit.
It made us wonder why those guys almost always have that styles of glasses, so an informal poll around the office coalesced into to camps:
· Mirror glasses are particularly useful for avoiding eyecontact, as they are effectively a one-way mirror. Maybe it makes them feel like they are in the interrogation room, more likely they hide behind the glasses while surreptitiously scanning around inside the vehicle for contraband or other naughty things
· The second opinion was that these glasses or sunglasses are decidedly more prominent in very sunny climes (California, New Mexico etc) and high altitude (Colorado) – primarily because they add even more filtering to the incoming light and reduce it from a normal tinted pair of glasses by a further 10-60% depending on the materials used and the thickness of the film.
Maybe we should look into trying to source some ourselves for the designer glasses section of the site – especially if we are planning for a particularly sunny summer this year (which of course we are !)
