Glasses And Make Up

For my 2nd article on Eye Fashion I want to draw attention to the importance of make up for “girls who wear glasses”By wearing glasses you are effectively putting your eyes in a “picture frame” So it is important to make the most of this feature. With clear lenses always try when possible to have anti reflective coating to your lenses, this will allow others to see your eyes rather than reflections.

The correct application of your eye make up is really important and can really be very flattering.

Start by choosing a light reflecting concealer and apply this under the eye area, this will stop the frames casting shadows and accentuating any dark circles. If you are wearing coloured frames then keep your eyeshadow soft and neutral in tone so as not to clash with the frames, sweep this over the eye lid and softening any hard edges.

Use eyelash curlers before applying mascara these will lift the lashes away from the lens and widen the look of your eyes. Always choose a good quality mascara that separates lashes as they will become more pronounced under your glasses and clumpy lashes will not look pretty.

Your eyebrows are extremely important, they are usually visible above the line of your glasses and you will need to keep them well shaped. Using an eyebrow brush, brush the brows upwards then simply follow the top line with the brush to shape. Use tweezers to remove any stray growths of hair below your natural brow line, but keep them looking natural.

If you wear foundation then apply a light dusting of translucent powder over the bridge of your nose this will protect your foundation from the glasses.

It is also very important to choose the correct shade of lipstick as this will balance the whole picture.

If you wear bolder or the thicker types of plastic frames then choose a stronger shade of lipstick. Red looks great with black frames and you can also get some really strong shades of lip glosses now which will give a very natural strong coloured effect. These glosses will also be less strong and more suitable for daytime wear still keeping the balance right.

With coloured frames, choose a shade to compliment the frame. Try to avoid using a very pale lipstick with bolder colours as this can make your face look “top heavy”. Pale lipsticks and glosses look fine with softer coloured frames and the lighter types of metal frames.

Finally a soft stroke of blusher, in gentle warm tones for the bolder colours, pinks or rose tones for the paler shades. Apply this softly following the line of your cheekbones to give a final definition to the whole look.

Try these methods and check how great you now look in those spex!!

Until next time

Thought this was a great article with lots of useful tips. Make up is difficult enough with glasses so your ideas will come in handy.

Great article, but assumes that you can actually see well enough to apply eyemake-up whilst NOT wearing your glasses
