When you visit your local Optician for your eye examination, usually the first point of contact is with the Opticians Receptionist.

The Optical Receptionist  is a busy individual who performs a wide range of duties, which contributes to the smooth day to day running of the practice.  Here are just a few examples of the tasks undertaken on a daily basis.
*  Meeting and greeting patients
*  Dealing with phone enquiries about spectacles
*  Booking appointments for sight tests
*  Arranging the Optometrists clinic
*  Maintaining an accurate and up to date diary
*  Updating patients records

As well as performing all of the above mentioned tasks, the receptionist will assist patients choosing their new glasses, and inform them of new products which are available to them. Some Senior Optical Receptionists will also be involved in the dispensing of spectacles, ordering of spectacle lenses and contact lenses depending on age and experience.
It is a busy role which differs on a daily basis, and not for the faint hearted!!
